About Heather Toum LMHC
Counselor for Fertility Problems & Postpartum Depression and Anxiety
Welcome! I am so glad you found me.
I’m Heather. Here’s a bit more about me: For over a decade I have focused on supporting people of all ages with their mental health. In the last 6 years, I have grown my expertise in the areas of fertility and perinatal challenges. I offer support to all women, whether they are trying to become a mom, navigating motherhood, or looking for counseling to treat anxiety, depression, or trauma-related symptoms.
My approach to therapy is rooted in being person-centered, strength-based, and solution focused. My original masters training was in Marriage and Family therapy, which helps me view problems from a family systems perspective. I will help you identify cycles that have developed in your relationships; brainstorm problem solving ideas; and pinpoint coping skills to build or add to your toolbox, with or without the use of cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT) in which I’ve had additional training.
The most important aspect of therapy is that you feel comfortable with your therapist. I strive to be my authentic self by including humor alongside communication about the process is going for you. Together, we will create attainable, realistic, therapeutic goals based on your individual needs. I can never know you as well as you know yourself, so I invite and encourage regular feedback so I can continue to help you feel better.
